Vibe Coding to Production: How to Take Your AI App Live
Published July 6, 2026
You described what you wanted, and Lovable, Bolt, Replit or v0 built it. It works. It’s exciting. And now you’re wondering: how do I actually launch this to real users? Here’s the honest path from prototype to production.
The gap you’re standing in front of
A vibe-coded app is a real prototype, genuinely useful for showing people and validating the idea. But “works in the preview” and “real people can safely depend on it” are different things. The distance between them is the last stretch: the security, data, reliability and infrastructure that AI builders don’t reliably handle. It’s less glamorous than building features, but it’s where trust is won or lost.
What “production-ready” actually requires
- Security. Move secrets server-side, add real authentication and data-layer access control, validate input on the server. (See Is vibe coding safe?)
- Real data. Move from prototype storage to a managed, backed-up database with a sensible data model.
- Reliability. Handle errors gracefully, don’t leak internals, add rate limiting.
- Testing. Automated tests on the critical paths so changes don’t silently break things.
- Deployment. Proper hosting, a custom domain over HTTPS, and CI/CD, not the builder’s preview.
- Monitoring. Logging and alerts so you learn about problems before your users do.
- Legal. A privacy policy and lawful handling of personal data.
A realistic 30-day plan
Most prototypes reach a safe launch in about a month:
- Week 1: Audit & fix criticals. Production-readiness and security review; fix the high-severity holes; cut scope to what matters.
- Week 2: Harden the core. Real database, real auth and access control, error handling.
- Week 3: Make it real. Hosting, domain, HTTPS, monitoring, tests, CI/CD.
- Week 4: Launch & learn. Privacy basics, soft launch, watch monitoring, iterate.
Our free AI App Handoff Kit + 30-Day Launch Plan gives you this as a template you can follow or hand to engineers.
Do it yourself, or bring in help
If you’re technical, the plan above is yours to run. If you’re not, or you’d rather not gamble on the security and scale parts, this is exactly what an engineering team does. Start by running the production-readiness scorecard to see how far off you are, then decide.
Either way, don’t let the last stretch stop you. The idea was the hard part; the path to production is well-trodden.
