Which AI builder should you use?

Lovable, Bolt, Replit, v0, Cursor and Figma Make overlap more every month, but they still suit different people. Here is who each one fits, what it leaves for you or an engineer to finish, and when it is time to bring engineers in. Reviewed October 2026; check each tool’s own documentation for current features and pricing.

ToolBest forWhere it hits a ceiling
LovableFounders building a complete web app from a prompt: screens, database, login and integrations, with code you can sync to GitHub.Access rules, complex business logic and behavior under real load still need someone who reads the code to check them.
Bolt.newFast full-stack prototypes in the browser, with built-in options for a database, publishing and a custom domain.Data modeling, security review and reliability under real traffic are left for you to verify.
Replit (Agent)Building, hosting and running an app in one place. The agent sets up the project, writes code and tests its own work.Convenient hosting is not the same as a reviewed setup; security, cost under load and maintainability still need a closer look.
v0 (Vercel)Polished React and Next.js interfaces, and full-stack Next.js apps that deploy to Vercel in one step.Strongest on the front end. Backend logic, data access rules and integrations deserve the closest review.
CursorPeople who can already read code. An AI editor and coding agent that works inside an existing codebase. It speeds up a developer; someone still has to make the architecture decisions and review what it changes.
Figma MakeTurning Figma designs or prompts into interactive prototypes and simple published web apps. Full access needs a paid Figma seat.Best treated as a starting point. Data, security and integration work usually follow before real customers use it.

What every tool leaves to you

Whichever tool you pick, the same questions come up before launch: who can see which data, what happens when a payment or integration fails, whether backups work, and whether anyone can safely change the code next month. The tools can help with each of these, but none of them can confirm the answers for you. The readiness scorecardshows where your app stands, and our prototype to productionservice covers the engineering if you want it done for you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which AI app builder is best?

It depends on who is building and what. Lovable and Bolt suit non-technical founders building a full web app from a prompt. v0 is strongest on React and Next.js interfaces. Replit puts building and hosting in one place. Cursor is for people who already read code. Figma Make suits teams starting from designs. Many teams use more than one. All of them leave security review, data design and behavior under load for someone to check.

Can I build a real, launchable product with these tools?

Yes, and some teams do launch straight from them. For an app that handles personal data, payments or meaningful traffic, expect a further stretch of engineering on access rules, data, reliability and deployment. How much depends on the app, and it is usually smaller than a rebuild.

When should I bring in engineers?

Usually at one of these points: real customers are about to sign up, you are about to take payments or store sensitive data, or each new prompt is breaking something that used to work. Those are signs the app needs a reviewed codebase rather than more prompting.

Stuck on the part your AI builder can’t finish?
